Concept Sketches
As this was a personal project, I had a lot of liberty with the direction I wanted to go on this, let alone the name of the app! The question, “What’s Cookin?” was a commonly asked one in the kitchen at home. Working with leftovers and creatively utilizing the remaining veggies and fruits has always been a source of joy for me, and that enthusiasm continues to this day!
The primary goal of this poster is to engage both online and public audiences, promoting the vibrancy and liveliness. The initial exploration of incorporating linework in the design seemed promising but, as you will see, I changed my mind. It just gave a more ‘rough’ feel which I grew to not like.
During the creative process, I noticed an abundance of food illustrations, leading to concerns that reducing them too much might impact their recognizability. As a solution, I opted to halve the elements, maintaining the desired effect while achieving a cleaner outcome.
Another crucial aspect I addressed was the layout and alignment of the text. I slightly enlarged the main title, allowing it to be wider than the taglines. This adjustment resolved the awkward centering caused by the title's angle while maintaining alignment with the other text elements.
Overall, I am delighted with how it turned out.
